Fabric in the mail!

I was getting short on fabric.  Such a great feeling.  I've been dying to pick out some new prints!  I spent hours deciding what to get.  I don't spend that much time looking for clothes for myself!  It was such a big decision.  I knew what I loved, but I needed to pick out what I thought all of you would love too!  I created a new listing in my shop for a "create your own burlap pillow".  I think it will make things easier since many lovely customers are requesting custom orders.  Do you like the new prints?  What one is your favorite?

Childhood Treasures

This Eskimo doll and penguin used to be displayed on my dresser when I was little.  The doll belonged to my Mom.  The poor little penguin is loosing his nose.  It's hanging on by a thread!  He will have to remain in my room, away from the adventures in barbie land!

Growing Up in an Antique Shop

Hair Receiver (used long ago to store hair in)
Growing up, my grandfather had an antique store.  He still has it now and he is in his nineties!  I would spend lots of time helping him.  One of the best parts (let me tell you there were lots of great parts) was displaying the antiques in the windows.  I would search the store for items that went together.  It's almost like making treasuries on Etsy, except I got to feel each piece.  Many times, people would come in with things to sell.  Sometimes it was sad seeing them sell something that was a family heirloom.  I think that this experience contributed to my love for things thrifted.  Many times I can get lost thinking about the life an item had before it ended up in my hands.

My Love Hate Relationship With Jillian Michaels

I have worked out with Jillian 28 times since April sixth.  This DVD (30 Day Shred) has changed my view of exercising.  I have done many different workouts, P90X, treadmill, etc.  Never have I wanted to stick with a program so much.  Yes, I have missed a day here and there.  Some days, I have totally wanted to skip it.  Mostly though, I love it.  It only takes about 25 minutes of my time.  It has three levels.  I'm happy to say I am now on the last level, level 3.  I'm going to continue with it past the 30 days.  My body is changing more than I have ever noticed.  I'm so much stronger and I'm starting to see my abs!  I don't do the diet plan.  I'm not trying to loose weight.  I just want to tighten up what I have.  Have any of you tried this workout before?  Did it work for you?  Crystal (http://www.littlebitfunky.com/) got me hooked.  I have her to thank!  Even if you don't want to try out this workout, check out Crystal's blog.  You'll love it!

Childhood Treasures

Yes, I'm posting this on Tuesday instead of Monday.  I'm not going to start making excuses.  I got this Bunnykin music box for my 16 th birthday.  My parents got it from my grandfather's antique shop.  It plays the song,  "Happy Birthday To You".  It is something that I have kept out on display.  It is made by Royal Doulton.  I have a few other Bunnykin items from my childhood.  I love the scenes on the mugs and bowls.  That will have to be another post.

Mother's Day

I was up before the kids this morning.  I know, I should have slept in.  Instead, I went in the sewing room and cleaned up all the pieces of fabric that were scattered around the room.  It made me feel so much better to have things back in place.  It's been a busy place around here.  I had a full week at work and also finished my FIRST wholesale order.  Today we went into the woods.  The May flowers are so pretty.  If the wind dies down tonight we are roasting some hotdogs over the firepit.  If not, we'll just have to turn on the barbecue.  Happy Mother's Day!

Childhood Treasures

I was looking to post something different today until I found these three things.  My baby blanket, and two Fisher Price toys.  They both still work but aren't in the best condition.  They were certainly played with and loved very much.  I had forgotten about snoopy.   We had simple toys that at the time seemed not so simple!  The music box was one of my favorites.  Did any of you have these toys?  Please share friends!

Missing them

The house is so quite right now.  I know I should really be sleeping in.  Friday and Saturday night the girls slept over at two different houses.  This doesn't happen often.  Yesterday they came home long enough to enjoy some of the beautiful weather and repack.  I know they are going to be tired today.  I'll be happy when they get home and the house sounds like normal.
